Dread spiders are a highly poisonous breed of spiders with a shell as hard as steel.
As part of the 15th Update to Publish 43, Dread Spiders were broken into two types:
- Dread Spiders that have regular spawns in overland areas and in dungeons. These Dread Spiders had their stats increased significantly in an attempt to thwart unattended script farmers who were using hacks to farm Dread Spiders for up to 2,000,000gp per hour. As of now, this boost is also applied to Dread Spiders that spawn as part of the Arachnid Champion Spawn, but it is believed that this may be changed in the future.
- Dread Spiders that spawn as a part of treasure map spawns. Treasure maps are rarely scripted, if ever, so the Dread Spiders that spawn as part of this system were left unchanged.
