Mad Mage was the title of an event which occurred in Spring of 2008. This event featured Kronos, the titular "mad mage," finally (after over a year) completing a machine that would detect and gather all the blackrock in the world.
Instead, the machine blew a hole in the fabric of reality, creating a mirror image of Moonglow in the Ethereal Void, within which foul evil creatures dwelt.
This event marks the first in-game, non-disguised appearance of the Shadowlords.
