I completed the Human to Elf quest last night and saw that there is no writeup on it here. So, I've written up a how-to for the Elven Heritage Quest. To include pictures, do I need to host them on my own, or is there a way to upload pictures to the wiki for inclusion in a guide? Thanks!

: That's because the page is [[Gargoyle Artifacts]], with both words capitalized. The search box will resolve "'''g'''argoyle '''a'''rtifacts" to "'''G'''argoyle '''a'''rtifacts," which auto-resolves again to "'''G'''argoyle '''A'''rtifacts." When you put a link on a page, it takes whatever you put literally, and can do no auto-resolving. Thus "'''g'''argoyle '''a'''rtifacts" stays as "'''g'''argoyle '''a'''rtifacts" and thus will not link to the proper page.<br />--[[User:Cogniac|Cogniac]] 15:01, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

I think there was quite a few unnecessary formatting sections, such as Redirect. This page should be kept as concise and newbie friendly as possible. Adding pictures?

I completed the Human to Elf quest last night and saw that there is no writeup on it here. So, I've written up a how-to for the Elven Heritage Quest. To include pictures, do I need to host them on my own, or is there a way to upload pictures to the wiki for inclusion in a guide? Thanks!

Adding images to UOGuide is simple. Even though you have figured out how, I will just run through the process really quick.
  1. Take the screenshot and edit it to what you want. Save it on your hard drive.
  2. Click the "Upload file" link in the blue menu.
  3. Press the "Browse" button and locate the image.
  4. You can modify the destination filename to something more descriptive.
  5. Press the "Upload File" button.
That is it, your file is now on the site and can be linked using the filename you decided upon. - JC the Builder 11:06, 2 February 2007 (PST)

No Table of Contents

I've forgotten the exact form for the notoc option. Could someone please refresh my memory? --Ceruleus 12:00, 12 January 2008 (PST)

Found it, on the help page, no less. __NOTOC__ No brackets, no paren's, just underline, underline, NOTOC, underline, underline. --Ceruleus 12:39, 12 January 2008 (PST)

Word Wrapping & Left Aligned Tables

If I align="left" a table, the subsequent text wraps the table, which is not pretty and not what I intended. How do I stop the word wrap after a left aligned table? --Ceruleus 18:07, 24 January 2008 (PST)

Establishments

I am trying to add a town as a Establishment however the 3rd point reads:

"3. Fill out the page with some basic information. A template is provided at the end of this page for easy setup"

I go to the page I want to create and there is no template at the end of the page? - Could I just copy and paste someone elses and then replace the text/images etc?

--Pixel Donkey 12:55, 9 October 2009 (UTC)

It is talking about UOGuide:Establishment_Submission#Template. You copy and paste all the text in the selected box and then fill in the appropriate information. If you wish to copy another establishment page and fill in your own information, that is fine too. - JC the Builder 18:04, 9 October 2009 (UTC)

Gargoyle Artifacts

I have edited Medusa's page (the peerless) and included the term gargoyle artifacts. However, when you click on it, you are not taken to the existing page of this name but to a new, not yet existing page. However, the (already existing) page "gargoyle artifacts" can be retrieved in "site search". What is wrong?

That's because the page is Gargoyle Artifacts, with both words capitalized. The search box will resolve "gargoyle artifacts" to "Gargoyle artifacts," which auto-resolves again to "Gargoyle Artifacts." When you put a link on a page, it takes whatever you put literally, and can do no auto-resolving. Thus "gargoyle artifacts" stays as "gargoyle artifacts" and thus will not link to the proper page.

Reworking this page

I think there was quite a few unnecessary formatting sections, such as Redirect. This page should be kept as concise and newbie friendly as possible. We should make an Help:Advanced Editing page to explain what else can be done. Also including stuff on Templates. - JC the Builder 02:12, 25 June 2010 (UTC)

Javascript Calculators

How to I create a new calculator? The one I am working on now is for Word of Death damage, but I want to add others in the future. I can't find any info about it in the various help pages. I looked at the Swing Speed Increase page since it has a calculator, but in the page source it only says {{Calculator|SwingSpeed}} with no indication of where one might access the source code for said calculator. I looked at the calculator page under templates help, too, but couldn't make sense out of it. Thanks in advance for the help!

The {{Calculator}} template merely places an insertion point for a calculator. The actual calculator code is placed on a JavaScript page. Example: Swing Speed Increase.js The "searchForCalculators()" function at the bottom there is what looks for the template insertion point. All of the calculators use Calculator.js as their container.
