The Sands of Sosaria was one of the gift items from the 15th Anniversary gift bag. It is an hourglass that, when double-clicked, displays a manuscript about an historic event from one of the 16 years in UO's history (1997 - 2012).

Each manuscript begins with the text:

It then goes on to name a Britannian year that fell within the featured Earth year, and briefly describes an important historical event that took place at that time.
1998
Britannia Year 294
The leaders of the Followers of Armageddon, Martoo Saul, Junin Pince, Zendella Kxriss, and Miron Vehl, bargained with wisps to learn the Armageddon spell and worked in secret to collect enough blackrock to cast it.
