Vanquishing is a special property given to some weapons. If a weapon has Vanquishing it will appear in the yellow name. Along with Power and Mystic, these weapons were looted off some monsters during the Britain, Ophidian and Magincia Invasions. During Ophidian and Magincia invasions, they were the only way to effective means to damage Daemon Berserkers.
Notes
- Vanquishing weapons always have 35% Damage Increase
- Only weapons introduced prior to the Mondain's Legacy have been available with vanquishing
History
Vanquishing was originally an item property on weapons that denoted it inflicted an additional five points of damage, the highest possible additional damage bonus and was highly sought after. At the time, item properties were not shown as numbers, values or percentages but were colorfully indicated in the item's name. Later, with the advent of the Age of Shadows expansion in 2003, all such descriptive terms ceased to be created. Any new magic items simply had their item type as their title and any special, magical or other properties were indicated in a series of item properties with their values of intensity. Old magic items that still showed the former style of description became modestly collectible rares.
Years later in 2008, in perhaps a retro-type of throwback, new items began appearing during the War of Shadows event chapter of the Warriors of Destiny epic which included many of the older item descriptions, such as Vanquishing, in addition to many others.
