Use a water pitcher on the egg once a day as every time the 24 hour period has elapsed, or it will become dry. If the egg hasn’t been watered for one day, it will be dehydrated on the following day and need to be watered twice to be healthy. Not watering the egg once will not prevent the growth of the egg. If not watered twice, the egg will not grow that day and has a 50% chance of being burnt. It also decreases its chance of yielding a dragon turtle.

Only by hovering the cursor over the egg will the variation be known.

Beginning with the addition of the Chicken Lizard in the Stygian Abyss, certain creatures are nurtured and hatched from a single egg. These creatures are Tameable Pets which are controllable extensions of the Player Character.

Eggs are not stackable, and weigh 1 stone.

Eggs can be stored indefinitely in the bank as well as within a locked-down or secured container unless they have been placed within An Incubator. They can also be traded or sold as-is on a Vendor or Auction Safe. Once hatched, the resulting Pet can only be transferred to a new owner, or sold via specialized merchants in New Magincia.

Egg Variations & Acquiring

Incubating the Egg

Incubator.gif

The egg must be placed and remain inside a locked down and secured incubator for 3 complete real-life days to reach maturity. During that period, the player must water the egg once a day so it retains its moisture. After 72 hours, if all steps have been followed, the egg will be ready to be hatched. If the egg incubates for 48 hours after becoming mature, it will burn.

Growth Period

Whenever the egg is moved, it verifies if its destination is inside another incubator. If yes, verifies how much time it has already been incubating previously. If it has already exceeded the maximum incubation time allowed, it will burn the egg. Otherwise, it will set an incubation (re)start timer on itself which will verify every hour whether or not it has gone over the maximum incubation time.

If the egg is picked-up, it sets an incubation end time and establishes the difference between the latest (re)start timer and the current end time and adds that duration to total incubation time completed for an updated value.

Watering the Egg

Use a water pitcher on the egg within the incubator once a day. Every 24 hours the egg dries out. If the egg hasn’t been watered for one day, it will be dehydrated on the following day and need to be watered twice to be healthy. How the egg is cared for will present various results depending upon the type of egg.

Chicken Lizard Egg

Status of Chicken Lizard Egg Result of...
A chicken lizard egg Newly laid egg or hasn't completed incubation stage 1
A moist chicken lizard egg Is watered
A dry chicken lizard egg Is in the incubator for 24 hours or less and needs watering
A parched chicken lizard egg Hasn't been watered for 48 hours
A dehydrated chicken lizard egg Hasn't been watered for over 48 hours with no initial watering
A burnt chicken lizard egg Was never watered or exceeded max incubation time
A mature chicken lizard egg Ready to be hatched.

Chicken Lizard eggs are special in that they will hatch either a regular Chicken Lizard, or a Battle Chicken Lizard depending upon how well the egg has been cared for.

Watering Chicken Lizard Egg Consequence
Daily Always moist after watering, 10% chance for a Battle Chicken Lizard
Skipped Once Will grow, needs 2 waterings, 5% chance for a Battle Chicken Lizard
Skipped Twice No growth, needs 3 waterings, 1% chance for a Battle Chicken Lizard
Skipped Thrice No growth, 100% burn risk

Skipped Thrice No growth, 100% burn risk

Growth Signs

As a visual indication of the growth stage and health to the player, the egg will change in size for each growth stage and change in hue according to its type and health. Each completed healthy stage will increase the size of the egg.

A Chicken Lizard Egg will change hue indicating whether it is a normal or Battle Chicken Lizard.

Hatching the Egg

The egg will not hatch on its own. The player will have to double click the egg to break its shell. Hatching attempts can be made at any growth stage. The player will receive a confirmation gump asking him if he’s sure he wishes to hatch the egg.

If the egg isn’t mature enough or if the egg is burnt, the egg will crumble and the player will be informed accordingly that it was a failure. If the egg is mature, an untamed creature according to the egg type will spawn from it and the egg will be destroyed.
