Been a miner for more than 3 years and have no idea what nuance is trying to be stated in the above quote; the parenthetical clause offers no clarification. :Sounds to me like it means that if a valorite vein has 10 ore to be dug, the elves will have a chance to get 7 valorite and 3 iron whereas a human will get 6 valorite and 4 iron(''illustrative numbers only''). I've got a vague memory of reading a forum post somewhere that suggested that elves can simply pull up more ore (either plain ''or'' coloured) from a given node, and so will get more coloured stuff overall.<br><br>Examples of "special ore type" are Shadow Iron, Dull Copper, Valourite, etc. A "coloured vein" is an ore node that, when harvested from, can produce those special ore types. - [[User:Bomb Bloke|Bomb Bloke]] 04:30, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

Er, really? I'd heard some nodes stock double the amount of ore then others (24 vs 12), but didn't realise this was based on whether they were in a "town" area or not.

An ore spot could provide any ore type, but how often they change type depends on how often they're dug. Your skill makes no difference to the chance of finding a rare ore, it only determines whether you can actually dig that ore up.

It does not matter if it is in a town/guard zone or not. Some nodes have double the ore of others, true, but I have found them in the mountains west of Britain in the guard zone as well as in the wilds. Katherine 14:22, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
