Formosa is the sole Taiwanese shard and is also the historical name for Taiwan dating to the 1500's which means "beautiful" in Portuguese. It was the 20th shard created and 8th Asian one. It was opened December 24, 1999 and was initially only available to Taiwanese and other South Asian players but was opened to any Ultima Online player on February 22, 2000.
