Elf Headgear

The 2D client prohibits elves from displaying Head Slot items the same way Humans do. While an elf may look like it is about to don a helmet or a kabuto, when equipped the headgear becomes a circlet.

Orc Headgear

Wearing certain headgear found as loot on Orcs can have different effects.

An Evil Orc Helm

An Evil Orc Helm spawns on Orc Lords. It imparts a Karma loss for equipping it or for logging in while wearing it. While worn, the Helm grants a Strength Bonus of 10, but either an Intelligence or Dexterity penalty of 10 points, depending upon which is the higher stat. When an Evil Orc Helm is removed the stats return to normal, but the Karma lost must be regained manually.

A Mask of Orcish Kin

A Mask of Orcish Kin spawn as loot on Orc Mages. It imparts a Karma loss for equipping it or for logging in while wearing it. While worn, the mask will cause you to be ignored by all Orcs and prevents Orcs from being Provoked upon you.
The Mask will explode, be destroyed, and cause roughly 50 Hit Points of damage in the process, for committing following actions:
····
  • You attack an Orc while wearing the Mask;
  • You equip the Mask while in combat with an Orc;
  • Your pet attacks an Orc while you are wearing the Mask;
  • You steal from an Orc while wearing the Mask; or
  • You Polymorph while wearing the mask.
Interestingly, A Mask of Orcish Kin can be blessed with a Clothing Bless Deed.
