The Gentle Rest Inn has also been specially honored by Ultima Online developers. The local New Haven inn on every shard was renamed The Gentle Rest Inn in recognition for the guild's work in greeting, training and equipping hundreds of new players.
GRI's charter and mission has ever and always been to uphold the Virtues, to protect the weak and the new, and to provide training, armor, weapons and housing for its members and others in need. GRI's charter has as its foundation the Three Rules, simple but profoundly important, to which each prospective member must agree before he or she is accepted. The Three Rules are:
1. No foul language;
2. No aggressive acts against guild members and
allies without their prior permission;
3. Respect all.
The guild consistently supports justice and good citizenship on Catskills. Since its beginnings in Yew, GRI has been anti-PK. It also has an ongoing mission to offer challenging, interesting hunts and other activities, the introduction of the Royal Britannian Guard on Catskills which GRI personnel spearheaded, and social experiments in New Haven and more recently in New Magincia.
GRI's has headquarters in several spots. One is the old Mall of Britannia castle now called The EyE of the Storm.
In addition, in summer 2011, GRI is opening a new township within the boundaries of New Magincia (Felucca) where it owns eighteen homes.
Basic plans for New Magincia include a focus on new guilds, housing, and role-playing. The guilds which will be highlighted among themselves for role-playing purposes are:
FURY - non faction paladins;
DUSK - villains,
NMT - citizens;
RBG - the Royal Guards.
Other guilds will be welcome to interact as well.
In addition the New Magincia Township plans to hold monthly archery, melee, mage and taming events. Planned for August 2011 is a pirate invasion from another shard.
