History

Galathan was born in Minoc where he worked in the local mines hauling ore to the blacksmith. He met his first love in this small town, Jasi Hammerarm, the daughter of the blacksmith. The couple eloped at a young age and sailed to Moonglow where they joined the Moonglow Militia. Galathan trained with the militia, learning how to use the sword, as well as learning how to interpret and implement war tactics. These skills would become needed when Moonglow engaged the Stormreaver Orcs, and shortly after the Order of the Ebon Skull, in battle. It was not long before he became known as one of the better warriors on the field of battle, as he would at times take on larger number of foes at once and defeat them in combat. The Stormreavers referred to him as "the clompiest glowpug."

Galathan served faithfully alongside his brothers in arms when Moonglow invaded Yew and Serpent's Hold, retrieving the Bell of Courage and the Candle of Love, which would be used with the Book of Truth in an attempt to summon the Avatar. Preceding the summoning ritual, Galathan, along with the rest of the Militia, engaged the Regency's army in what would become to be known as one of the largest battles ever, with the Regency forces outnumbering the militia more than three-to-one. The Moonglow Militia defeated the Regency forces while defending the ritual site.

After the ritual, which resulted in failure and a string of peculiar events, Galathan and Jasi were ambushed on Moonglow by unknown assailants. Galathan tried to save Jasi by selflessly giving himself to the attackers, but after impaling him on several spears and hacking off his arms, they killed Jasi in front of him.

He was saved by a Technomancer, a specialty that was in its budding infancy at the time, who gave Galathan synthetic arms and repaired the otherwise fatal damage. However, the Technomancer installed a control device in order to have one of the greatest fighters under his command. The control device ultimately resulted in a tragic event where Galathan was forced to murder his sister, Sky Saulot. He was liberated a short time later from control of the Technomancer by a good friend of his by the moniker Flame. However, the events of losing his wife and sister, as well as a portion of his own body, had left Galathan in a very bad state of mind. He made questionable decisions and performed questionable deeds (namely the kidnapping of an innocent blacksmith woman, who would later become one of his dearest friends). He felt that the people who he fought along side in the Militia no longer understood him. He turned against those who were closest to him in the Militia and left Moonglow, traveling to Jhelom and starting the Jhelom Council of Valor.

Gathering a combination of professional soldiers, outcasts, and unsavory characters, Galathan built a small army. He began to hate Moonglow, blaming it for what had happened to him and Jasi. This ultimately lead to a short war between the two sides. However, due to mismanaging his soldiers as well as being plagued by constant despair, Galathan left the Jhelom Council and retreated to the deep wilds for a period of time. It was several years before he came to terms with his loss and was able to move on. That is when he decided to rejoin his old brothers in arms on Moonglow.

Galathan was welcomed back to the Militia, and was made Captain for a period of time. A good friend (and arguably considered his best at the time), Richard, gave to Galathan a special, finely-crafted blade prior to the end of Richard's life. It was specially engraved and blessed, and Galathan entrusted it to the possession of a dear friend, Tatiana Alexi, who holds it to this day.

Throughout his second tenure in the Militia, Galathan fostered a number of relationships, utilizing his good looks, quick wit, and natural charm, but not many of them lasted for very long. Old enemies became new friends as he learned to put aside his past actions and deeds, though he delved deeper and deeper into bottles of ale to help. Before too long, he carried the reputation of a drunken lout, womanizer, and general nuisance in addition to his reputation as one of the most formidable fighters. He would duel anyone and everyone constantly, many times two or three at a time. He had only lost against four opponents: Eli, of the Brotherhood of the Hand, Tarothin Armunn (spelling might be off), Tai Kwan Leap, and Vaen Swiftar.

Galathan carried himself for several years, going from ale binge to romantic fling to martial violence, and back again, before finally retiring his blade. He no longer took up any random cause for the sake of a fight, and retired to his small cabin on Moonglow. He met Echoe, a fair and wise woman, in the town of Moonglow and the two fell in love. He settled down with her and they lived happily for years in relative solitude and isolation, having one child by the name of Skylocke (an homage to Galathan's deceased sister, Sky Saulot).

Echoe passed away due to natural causes, and Galathan lived alone in his cabin, very rarely ever leaving it or even writing to old friends. He drifted away into obscurity and memory. One night, his cabin was found alight by fire in an apparent suicide.

Very little remains that belonged to Galathan save for Richard Ebonrune's sword which also bears Galathan's name on it.

Appearance

He was a very handsome man, standing about six feet tall with a lean, muscular build. He always maintained a well-groomed appearance, his clothes nice and unwrinkled, his hair well-kept. Depending on the time of his life, he would carry up to fifteen or sixteen weapons on himself, or as few as one, which would have been Richard's sword.

Other Information

His only surviving relative is Skylocke.
