Help:Article Layout

Revision as of 09:30, 30 March 2010 by Cogniac (Talk | contribs)

All pages should follow the same basic layout.

Header

The header is at the first line or couple of lines at the top of the page. The __NOTOC__ command should always appear on the very first line. Other commonly included header commands include the {{tocright}} and other navigational templates. However not always.

Introduction

The first paragraph should include a basic description of the item/creature/subject to make it clear what the page is about.

Body

This section goes into detail about the item/creature/subject. It can span multiple sections or not exist at all if the subject is straight forward.

See Also

This section links to related pages that a person may wish to visit. For example if the page is about Polar Bears, they may want to continue on to Brown, Black and Grizzly Bears.

Footer

The footer is the last or last few lines of a page. Typically this consists of the category tags. For more on adding categories see Help:Categories.
