In-game, Mugen refers to a specific shard with a special ruleset. Out-of-game, Mugen is a word of Japanese origin, meaning dream, fantasy, or infinite. It has been interpreted to mean "Without Limits." An Asian version of Siege Perilous, the idea behind shards with the special ruleset was to create a more "difficult" and challenging shard for UO veterans.
