4.0.0p - Improvements to the Paging System

Revision as of 23:32, 3 January 2008 by Cogniac (Talk | contribs)

Ultima Online’s in-game “help menus” and Game Master paging system are receiving several small but notable improvements with Publish 20.

  • New help for harassment: The “harassment” section of the help menu has been revised to now include two options for these sorts of help-calls: “physical harassment” and “verbal harassment.”
    • This revision will help Game Masters prioritize calls more efficiently and expedite responses as appropriate.
    • Instructions for how or how not to use these petitions will be included in that same menu section.
  • Players can give more information: The amount of information which players will be able to send in a help request will be increased from around 40 characters to over 200 characters.
  • More information from Game Masters: When a player receives a “tell message” from a GM, a “message button” will appear in the top-left corner of the game window. Pressing that button will pop up a new message gump-window.
    • The message gump may now also hold longer messages, allowing GM responses to include more information & details than was previously possible.
    • Responses from Game Masters may now include HTML-enhanced displays and web addresses, including links to pertinent online documentation.
    • This new message gump will persist until closed by the player (rather than disappear after a time as the old system message text did).
    • Messages from GMs are not cleared on logout, and can be stored for up to 3 days. (Note: Independent from the large message gump, the small “message” button will remain available for player, allowing them to review messages up to three days after receiving them.)
