Helms
A type of armor worn in the Head Slot, Helms (along with Hats & Masks) are the best way to make your character stand out as "different".
Below is a table accounting for the resists each form of helmet comes with. With few exceptions, the totals always add up to 15. Hats, on the other hand, offer a total base resistance of 24, are all medable and can furthermore be blessed. On the other hand, only helms can receive bonuses from Runic Tools.
Note that the Helm of Spirituality and Helm of Swiftness are not named objects unless in artifact form. As the un-enhanced versions are unlikely to ever appear in game and only one artifact version of each item exists, the artifact level resistances have been listed. These two items are only included in order to account for all helm varieties.
Helms that are exceptionally crafted will receive a bonus that is further boosted by your character's Arms Lore skill, while Runic Tools can be used to send the total resistance level far higher.
Some helms are "medable", meaning they do not affect your use of the meditation skill when worn. Elven helms can only be worn elves.
Each retains the color of the material from which they are made. Crafted versions can have their durability increased, via Powder of Fortifying, to a maximum of 255 and can be dyed with Pigments of Tokuno. If crafted exceptionally by a GM+ crafter they can hold their maker's mark.
