New Infobox for Items
Tonight, I've been working on a new infobox for items (weapons, armor, etc). I figure that a universal template would greatly benefit the cause of this website. To this end, I wanted to gather ideas about how effective this template works to disseminating information about particular items before I continue developing.
As an example, I've gone ahead and converted the page [[[Aegis of Grace]] on my own userpage using the template, which is still in development. So, honesty, which of the following pages looks better?
Aegis of Grace or User:Thadius856/Aegis of Grace
I'd like to continue developing this template for mass deployment, but would like to first get the nod from the site's administration. If you could please leave your thoughts regarding the template on my talk page, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thadius856 21:37, 13 September 2008 (PDT)
Replicas
Concerning these, to my understanding they're just copies of existing items (or items that have existed) - Sorta like the cursed versions of the Doom Artifacts. On this basis, I'm not sure we need to title them (or their images) as "replicas"... Might be better to just mention on the page text that replica versions are available.
Though I doubt we can trace back where the originals came from in most cases...
On a related note, would it be possible to avoid using unique image files for items with ambiguous appearances? For example, Pacify uses the exact same sprite as a standard Pike. I admit it's more of a gripe then a practical request but I've been wiping out tons of dupes recently... ;)

- Take a closer look at Pacify's shaft then have a look at the Pike picture (zoom in). They are not the same. Regardless, even if you feel you want to make it the pikes picture, this is only a 1.54KB issue we're talking about. The reason for me putting (Replica) is because that's what it is. The stats are different. For example - the replica one has 100% Hit Mana Leech while the original only has 62%. So therefore it is not just like a cursed item because the stats are different. If an item is called "Hat of the Magi" I'm going to put that, not HotM or HoM when I upload it. Then if someone wants to upload the real one they won't run into any problems. How is that an issue? In fact, the Pacify page should most likely be named Pacify (Replica) and not just "Pacify". You don't think any rares collector will ever come here and add in the history behind the real items since there's a big buzz around them at the moment? I'm sure Manticore knows the story behind most of them. This may come off rude but I'm not trying to be - just expressing how I think about all of this. - GregStaats 04:35, 30 December 2008 (EST)
Ah, I apologise, Pacify is indeed dyed grey. I had actually zoomed in on the images prior to my initial post but still managed to miss it. :/
The idea behind using as few images as possible is that it then becomes possible to get a quick list of every page which uses a given sprite. Doesn't really matter at this point in time (as it doesn't apply to many items at all, only the Tokuno artifacts really), but who knows, one day there might be enough items in the game to make it worth while.
The only image sizes that bother me are the big ones that slow my web browser down... This page edit alone is probably using more then 1.54KB of server space... Heh.
Re the stats, I figured since you'd stuck the "replica" notes on the "original" page they were therefore identical. I haven't been keeping up with much UO news outside of this site recently, so if these differences have been reported elsewhere I'd've missed it. Again, my mistake. - Bomb Bloke 11:17, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
Moving Pages
Don't delete the automatic redirect created when moving a page. Especially for a very popular page which has been up for several days at least. By now all those pages are linked from other websites and people will be confused to see a message that the page no longer exists. - JC the Builder 19:20, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
- Ahh sorry, never thought about that. Regardless, I think I'm done on UOGuide so if you'd like to remove me from sysop that'd be fine. - GregStaats 15:00, 29 January 2009 (EST)

- Work and all that. You may not have noticed but there were months that I didn't do a single thing and that's starting back up again. I doubt I can put in much time and I really didn't do that much to begin with. I will say that the website itself is great with alot of great people. I'm very happy with the progress that is being made and I'm sure I'll still visit the site as a user. Thanks alot JC and best of luck. :) GregStaats 21:53, 29 January 2009 (EST)
- There is no reason to remove your SysOp access at this time. We have some people who haven't edited in over a year now. Just contribute whenever you can or feel like it. Hope to see you around. - JC the Builder 19:40, 30 January 2009 (UTC)
- Alright, I'll try and make time when I can to do some things I've wanted to finish. I wasn't trying to make a big deal of this or anything, I just felt that if I wasn't around to do anything then I probably shouldn't be sysop. Thanks. - GregStaats 15:12, 30 January 2009 (EST)
