History

Jean grew up with a happy childhood. He played with his brothers and pets regularly, rarely fighting with any of them. His father was a fisherman, and his mother stayed at home taking care of her four children. When he was young his favorite games were always hunting games. He liked games like Hide and Seek. He enjoyed hiding from the other kids, or having to track them down. He also set traps for the skree and sliths that lived near his village. It wasn't until he was an adult that he'd realize that these skills were a good way to make a living.

The whole happy family thing was good for Jean when he was younger, but he had no aspiration to become a fisherman. One day when he and his father were selling their fish in the Royal City he was robbed. The man grabbed his coin purse and ran off. This was the first malicious act commited towards Jean. He'd chased the man for a short time but eventually gave up. Jean went back to business figuring that the best he could do would be to make more money and forget what he'd lost.

Later on that same day while he was dealing with a potential customer he saw the same man who'd robbed him. Instead of disrespecting his fathers wishes and leaving his busy stall he began asking customers who the thief was. After a couple customers he finally found a local who was willing to direct Jean to the man's shack. Jean went back to selling his fish and kept an eye open for the rest of the trip.

Jean snuck out of the village one night determined to get his money back. He went back to the city and used the information he'd gotten to find the thief's shack.

Back at the thief's shack Jean sat and waited in the bushes across the street. He was still a teenager and wasnt planning on fighting a full grown man. He waited there late into the night until the thief had gone inside and blown out his candle. Confident no one would see him Jean found a rope and built a boura snare right outside the door.

When morning came the thief walked out of his door and got himself strapped down by the snare. The sound woke Jean, who'd fallen asleep, and by the time Jean got to his catch a neighbor who was walking by had seen what happened. Jean ran up, grabbed his coin purse, and ran home. Jean only had two thoughts on his trip home. One was about how much heavier the purse was. The other, being the perfectionist he was, was about the witnesses. How did he not realize there would be witnesses?

It was one of those witnesses who would realize the potential in Jean.

Jean made a living as an studious calculated assassin until the day his wife drove him to abandon those traits.
