Snake Charming
A Snake Charmer Flute can be to charm snakes in the area in front of Medusa's lair to gather entrance keys, or to charm Silver Serpents for their venom
Medusa Keys
Using the snake charmer flute in front of Medua's area in the Stygian Abyss, snakes can be persuaded to search for Rare Serpent Eggs inside Serpent Nests. These eggs are the keys for the entrance to Medusa's lair. Four eggs are required to enter her lair.
Successful charming attempts result in the message 'Click where you wish the animal to go'. You will then target a nearby nest. The nest needs to be within 5 tiles.
The failed charming attempt message is 'You don't seem to be able to persuade that to move.'
Being successful at charming does not mean you'll be successful at finding an egg. If you are successful the message 'The snake finds a rare egg and drags it out of the nest!' a colorful A Rare Serpent Egg will appear where the nest was.
If the snake fails to find an egg you will receive the messages: 'The snake searches the nest and finds nothing', 'The nest collapses' or the dreadful 'Beware! The snake as hatched some of their eggs!! A swarm of snakes springs forth from the nest and attacks you!!!'. In which you'll need to be prepared to defend yourself.
Serpent's Venom
You can also use the Snake Charmer Flute to charm Silver Serpents allowing you to milk them for Silver Serpent Venom.
Charm the snake, double click your vial and target the snake to milk it.
Notes
- Musicianship is not required to use the flute.
- There is about a 5 second cool down between Flute uses.
- The snake charm will wear off in about 10 seconds and you can re-charm the same snake.
- Using a character with hiding and stealth, you can quietly sneak amongst the snakes, while attempting to charm them. Snake Charmer Flutes can be used while invisible, making the whole ordeal a lot less hazardous.
