September 6, 2015 - We meet Ronny

We met Inspector Norfolk in front of King Blackthorn's Castle and he informed us he will be taking over the Royal Britanian Guard operations until a suitable replacement for Commander Kilvare. His previous military experience and his deductive skills should serve us well until a time is needed for a tactical commander.

After talking with Inspector Norfolk we learned of some disturbing events happening in Papua. It appears that for a long time people have been disappearing from Papua. While mostly laborers and dock workers it's a shame that it's taken us so long to be made aware of this situation. However, recent events with the elemental gems we had been hunting took precedent but after the most recent abduction of five citizens from Papua brought this to the forefront of the Royal Britannian Guard. It appears as if 11 separate incidents has resulted in the disappearance of 25 people from Papua, and we headed there immediately.

After arriving we located Gillie Talbot, the wife of one of the missing people, and discussed the disappearance of her husband. It turns out that her husband, Ronny Talbot, had not been himself and went missing after accepting a job in the Britan sewers. Knowing they exited close to Papua we traveled to the sewers via the Papua entrance.

Once inside we located Ronny Talbot. He was very distressed:
Ronny Talbot: Arhh yes well, no.. Yes! *moves erratically from side to side*
Ronny Talbot: You.. you're like the rest.. Yes! *his left eye twitches shoulder jerks*
TRonny Talbot: Gots to do.. gots to do.. Yes. Bring them all. Yes.
Ronny Talbot: The more the better. Yes! Bring them all.. *snarls and drools*
Ronny Talbot: Gota do it.. he says so. Yes. Do it or else.. or else. Yes. *his eyes dart from person to person*
Ronny Talbot: Time to go. Yes. Back to the others.. back to them all. You as well... Yes! You as well.
Ronny Talbot: *scratches the back of his neck, his entire body twitching*
Ronny Talbot: They've all got to die.. Yes. Feed the altar.. It calls to me.. Yes. *twitches*
Ronny Talbot: You will join the others.. Yes. Many more corpses for the altar! *screeches and lunges forward*

He then shed his skin and attacked us with mounds of maggots before fleeing through a small grate in the wall!

Upon inspection of the skin we found a map in his belongings that lead us to a place deep in the wilderness of the Lost Lands. Traveling there we located a large alter with many bones laying around it. Well more than 25 people had been sacrificed there and judging by the age of the bones it has been going on for a very long time.

Inspector Norfolk poked the alter and a mound of maggots emerged and started attacking those of us in the crowd. After it was dispatched we discussed our next plan of action. Should we wait and ambush Ronny when he comes back? Should we hunt him down? Should the Altar be destroyed? The pros and cons weighed it was our consensus to destroy the altar to prevent further innocents from being killed.

Upon the destruction of the altar many monsters appeared and attacked us. After fighting them off all that remained was our stalwart group of adventurers and a large black gem that could almost be a scale from a dragon as black as midnight. Inspector Norfolk wrapped it in his cloak and after looking it appeared dazed momentarily. He is transporting it back to Blackthorn's Castle so the Royal Mage Dravon Baelgard can investigate further.

We gated back to Papua and departed ways with Inspector Norfolk as he wanted to inform Mrs. Talbot of the situation in private.

September 13, 2015 - Stonemason's Guild of Britain

We Meet up with Dravon Baelgard in front of Blackthorns castle and he discusses the jewel with us. The jewel is very old and possibly corrupted. The current theory is that it was used up once and is now trying to be recharged through sacrifices. Dravon is looking into both the original purpose of the jewel and a way to discharge it's energies.

After discussing the jewel Inspector Norfolk turned up to start the investigation. We have no new leads on Ronny's location as he hasn't shown up since our last encounter. His wife is back with her family in Trinsic so we should hear quickly if he visits here. The altar has been cleaned up as well with the remains and personal artifacts being returned to their families.

Next we reviewed Ronny's contract that his wife was able to supply. It appears he was hired by the Stonemason's guild of Britain as a laborer to repair sewer walls and pipes. This contract was created by one "Jack Hammer". Both the name and the guild seem fake. To find out more about the guild we started searching Britain for clues.

We found a new guildhouse on the South-Eastern part of town where the Profuse Provisioner used to be. Inside the guild was built up to look like a stonemason's guild but the guild's documents were clearly just labeled correctly as they contained no information. Inside the documents we found some random scribbling and doodles of castles on fire. There were also tools littered around the place, but they were brand new.

While inside the "guildhouse" we met a shrouded person who left shortly after we arrived. We feel he may be involved but not sure how or what they knew as we were not able to question them.

To find out more about this new Stonemason's Guild we went to the public library to look at the property records. The Record Keeper had no record of the guild or of the Provisioner's building being being sold. We found the current property records and found it belonged to one John Stevens a resident of the Steven's Residence in Jhelom - South Isle.

Steven's residence was located on the north side of the south isle. Outside the building a note was attached to the building with an arrow claiming the house is being fumigated and we should not enter. We entered anyhow and found spiderwebs adorning the walls, a dead bird, and a human rib cage "hidden" under the carpet. Inspecting the carpet caused giant spiders to appear and attack us. It turns out that Inspector Norfolk is very afraid of spiders and actually ran of leaving us to fight them. Once the spiders were dispatched we inspected the scene further.

We noticed that the human remains had been killed by a single arrow. The only identifying mark was an arrow in the rib cage, and a gold watch with the engraving J.S. It appears that John Stevens had been dead a long time, but with provisioner shop only recently taken over it left us with more questions than answers.

We needed more information so we went back to Britain and went to the provisioner's shop. Only to find that once we arrived the documents there had been set on fire and the chests labeled Property of the Stonemason's Guild of Britain had been smashed as well. Only a worn book remained with no author, but a great many of numbers had been scribbled across the pages.

Unfortunately this means the investigation is at a standstill for the moment. With a murder and the "theft" of a guild we need to question the neighbors and surrounding town folk next. To assist us in this Inspector Norfolk is setting up an "Evidence Room" to help us out. It will be an area set up to allow us to view the collected evidence, and provide us with witness names to follow up on.
