Scandal at Castle Blackthorn

Scandal at Castle Blackthorn is the starting quest in the quest chain which ends with the Heckles Hero quest. It shows up in your quest log as "A Visit to Castle Blackthorn".

Visit the Town Cryer and start it via the menu. He will inform you that "It seems that Castle Blackthorn has some secrets that are worth investigating. Your history on how Blackthorn even became king is a little fuzzy. You decide a visit to Castle Blackthorn would be worthwhile"

So it seems to be a good idea to visit Castle Blackthorn. While you cross the bridge, you will find that a Jester who is in the court yard may be a good source of history about the Castle.

You follow him to the Bar in the west part of the Castle. Just talk to him.. *hic* Are ye here with the wine delivery from the Abbey? No? Silly me to think you could lift a crate of wine with the strength of a lapwing! Haha! What do you want then, I'm very busy you know - many suitors and lots of wine to test. Oh, you want to know about the dungeon and His Majesty? Do I look like the Royal Archivist? Fine fine... look - the archivist gave me some volumes to store away but I dunno. I lost them. If you can find them I'll let you in on a little secret about the dungeon that'll make it worth your while! I wrote down what I can remember about where they are in this book here. Good luck. Or not. *hic*

You have to find his lost books by using the detect hidden skill. Even if you have only 0 skill points you will be able to find all 8 books if you are looking at the right locations.

You will get a book from Heckles which some clues where he lost thoose informations.

• bar - ground floor - west wing - in the right/north spittoon near the jester hat (16° 16' N, 11° 44' E)
• kitchen - ground floor - west wing - between the two fire pits (15° 18' N, 12° 47' E)
• Guest room (room with two beds)- 1st floor - west wing - Search at the cherry armoire with the two glasses.
• Guest room (room with two beds)- 1st floor - west wing - There is a second spot at the table left of the south single cozy elven char(13° 12' N, 12° 43' E)]
• Music chamber - ground floor - east wing - At the bench of the golden harpsichord (16° 42' N, 15° 57' E)
• Beehive - ground floor - north park - the northermost behive (23° 13' N, 15° 23' E)
• Sleeping area - 1st loor - east wing - in the room where Hawkwind and Blackthorn are look at the bed (16° 53' N, 16° 1' E)
• Smith - ground floor - west wing - near the stretched hide - this didn't work for me, instead use the second spot in the Guest room. (14° 4' N, 12° 39' E).
• Pantry - ground floor - west wing - near the wodden door (15° 18' N, 13° 21' E)

Now become Heckles hero.
