Operation
Once you have your cannons placed on your Ship, you can use them by one of two methods: By context menu or by double clicking the cannon itself.
If you use the context menu you can do things somewhat faster, where double clicking on a cannon gives you a pop-up menu, which might be better for a dedicated cannon worker. Also, if you hover over a cannon, a Tooltip will inform you on its status.
To firing your cannon:
- Load with Cannonball/Grapeshot, Powder Charge and Fuse Cord
- Prime (takes about 15 seconds)
- Fire (You can fire all cannons on port or broadside by saying 'Fire Port Broadside' (left) or 'Fire Starboard Broadside' (right)
Tips:
- You can only fire cannons if you are within reach and have a torch in your pack
- On most ships one person can reach at least 4 of the cannons at one time
- You can prime multiple cannons at one time
- Another person (with ramrod and torch) can assist with priming the cannons, speeding up the process
- Cannons lose durability after use just like weapons/armor, be sure to check your cannons status occasionally and repair them or you will lose it
