A Heating Stand is used ostensibly to apply heat as part of alchemical preparations, but in reality no such requirements exist for any potions or other items crafted with the Alchemy skill.

One practical use for a heating stand is as a portable heat source used in conjunction with the Cooking skill. Fishers out at sea can quickly and conveniently barbecue their fish on their boat using a heating stand instead of having to return to a place with an oven.
