The Acid Proof Rope is a coiled rope of varying color that is a special item needed to gain entry to the Palace of Paroxysmus. Carpenters can craft such ropes by using Wood Switches obtained while Lumberjacking. A recipe must be gotten and double-clicked by a Carpenter with the requisite skill. This recipe can be obtained as a quest reward from Heartwood and can also be obtained from the chests recovered by Treasure Maps. Ropes with a limited lifespan can also be obtained from Lucius the Adventurer who resides outside the entrance to the Palace for 5,000 gold pieces.
They have a chance to be destroyed when the Palace is entered. If it is not destroyed, a message is displayed saying the rope was weakened by the acid. These messages appear to have no real effect on the ropes themselves, as some ropes will last for several trips into the Palace even though they are supposedly weakened each time, while other ropes are destroyed on their first use.
